Healogics, Inc. is the nation’s largest provider of advanced chronic wound care treatments. Cody Regional Health is proud to work with this prestigious institution in order to provide specialized, state-of-the-art treatment for patients with non-healing wounds.
Using an interdisciplinary plan of care, we help patients prevent infections, regain their mobility after an injury, manage pain, and build a diet to stimulate the healing process, among other services. We are committed to helping you make a complete recovery from your injury.
What is a Chronic Wound?
Wounds that show no signs of healing after a month and fail to respond to traditional treatments are considered chronic or non-healing wounds. The number of Americans suffering from non-healing wounds has steadily grown over the years, due in part to increased life expectancy and diabetes rates.
Oxygen in the blood plays a major role in the wound healing process. Conditions that inhibit blood flow, like diabetes, also make it harder for us to heal and increase the chances of developing chronic wounds. It is important that you have these wounds tended to by a medical professional as soon as it becomes apparent that it is not going to heal. Open wounds are at high risk of developing infections, which can lead to a variety of even more serious complications.
The Treatment Process
At the Cody Regional Health Wound Care Center, our team includes physicians with advanced training in wound management and hyperbaric oxygen therapy backed up with nurses and technicians specially trained in chronic wound care.
Most patients are accepted to the center based on referrals from their physician. During the initial appointment, our team performs a thorough evaluation to better understand the patient’s medical history and condition. Following this assessment, a treatment program tailored for your unique needs is created.
Your wound care plan may include:
- Lab and diagnostic image testing
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Topical wound therapy
- Growth-factor therapy
- Debridement
- Tissue therapy
- Education on wound management
One of the most effective treatments for chronic wounds is hyperbaric oxygen therapy. During this treatment, patients lie in a pressurized tube with an intercom so they can communicate with the doctor. In the tube, patients are exposed to high levels of oxygen, which the body absorbs to stimulate the healing process.
