Cody Regional Health (CRH) is excited to announce a new partnership with Powell High School (PHS) to offer healthcare "Immersion Days," providing students with a unique opportunity to explore healthcare career paths directly within the hospital environment. This innovative program will allow approximately 15 students from Powell High School’s career and technical education program to experience a full day of hands-on learning alongside CRH's dedicated healthcare professionals.
Participating CRH departments include the Acute Care Unit (ACU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU), Radiology, Emergency Medical Services (EMS/EMT), Rehabilitation Services, Women's Health, and Surgical Services. Students will spend a full workday, from approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, paired with experienced healthcare staff members to gain practical knowledge and understanding of various healthcare roles and responsibilities.
“We’re thrilled to open our doors to students who are curious about healthcare careers,” said Ashley Trudo, Marketing Director at Cody Regional Health. “This immersive experience is essential in helping students understand the realities and rewards of working in healthcare. We’re proud to support the education and inspiration of the next generation of healthcare professionals in our community.”
Department leaders at CRH have expressed enthusiasm for this initiative. "Our staff members are excited to share their passion and knowledge with Powell High School students,” said Dick Smith, Human Resources Officer at Cody Regional Health. “Having students experience a full day in a real healthcare setting allows them to see firsthand the impact they could have in the medical field. We look forward to mentoring these students and potentially inspiring future careers at Cody Regional Health."
This partnership underscores Cody Regional Health’s ongoing commitment to supporting local education and workforce development. The immersion days are planned to start this Spring, providing an engaging and informative experience before the end of the current school year.
