Cody Regional Health is excited to announce the continuation and expansion of our partnership with Park 6 School District, aimed at nurturing and growing healthcare careers within our local communities. Building on the success of last year’s collaboration, we are thrilled to introduce new and enhanced programs across Cody elementary, middle, and high schools.
This marks our second year working closely with Park 6 School District to develop and inspire young talent in the healthcare field. Our partnership began with a shared vision alongside Vernon Orndorff, Superintendent of Park 6, to inspire students to explore healthcare careers and consider returning to Wyoming communities. The initiative has grown significantly, providing students with invaluable hands-on experience and exposure to various healthcare professions.
High School Program: "Healthcare Horizons"
In our inaugural year, we successfully launched the "Healthcare Horizons" program at Cody High School, where students participated in job shadowing opportunities across multiple departments within Cody Regional Health. Students spent one week in each department, shadowing professionals in areas ranging from the Emergency Room to Physical Therapy. This immersive experience allowed 10-20 students to explore potential career paths and gain a deeper understanding of the healthcare industry.
Middle School Program: "Healthcare Explorers"
For middle school students, our "Healthcare Explorers" program offered groups the chance to visit Cody Regional Health and various clinics every Friday. Students spent 40 minutes in different departments, learning about the roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals. This exposure at an early age helps spark interest in healthcare careers and provides a foundational understanding of the field.
Elementary School Pilot Program: "Healthcare Heroes"
As we move into our second year, we are excited to launch the "Healthcare Heroes" pilot program at Eastside Elementary School. In this program, a healthcare professional will visit classrooms once a month to share insights about the healthcare industry and discuss the many career opportunities available. While still in its early stages, we are enthusiastic about the potential this program has to inspire young students and encourage them to explore healthcare as they progress through their education.
We are excited to see our partnership with Cody Regional Health continue to grow and expand," said Vernon Orndorff, Superintendent of Park County School District 6. "These programs not only provide our students with incredible opportunities to explore healthcare careers but also help to strengthen our community by inspiring the next generation of professionals to stay and serve in Wyoming.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Park 6 School District,” said Ashley Trudo, Marketing & Public Relations Director at Cody Regional Health. “This collaboration is more than just a program; it’s an investment in our community’s future. By engaging students at every educational level, we’re helping to cultivate a passion for healthcare that will hopefully lead them back to the Big Horn Basin Region as skilled professionals.”
Cody Regional Health remains committed to supporting and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals. We look forward to continuing our work with Park 6 School District and seeing the positive impact these programs will have on our community.
